Manufactures claimed 280 miles so in reality 200/220 miles. Our Suzuki Across 302 bhp 0 to 60 5.5/5.7 seconds what is the point ?

Why would any of us want a car that does 0-60 in under 5 secs? Being retired no rush for anything and at that price, boy racers could not afford the car!

You may ask why anyone would want a Lambo Urus, or Porsche Cayenne, or Range Rover SVR, or a Ferrai Purosangue. These are also all family SUVs with a price point WAAAY above the Kia. People like different things. The world caters for them.

However Kia's do not exactly fit in with any of the brands mentioned as after all, it is still a Kia! 🤣 🤣

Just maybe they perceive a market for buyers who look beyond "image", consider say aspects with a more tangible affect, reliability, price and possibly theft potential?

Remember the kid's game Top Trumps? It seems to be that car makers think they have to have the highest hp or shortest 0-60 - but that sort of performance is unusable in the real world - too high a risk of shunting the car in front.

Pahhh, my 20 year Old Ford Ranger Pick Up, does 0 to 60 in 2 minutes 6 seconds, and I can get around 20mpg with it…….Now THATS performance!

So if you are ever in the narrow lanes of Dartmoor in Devon, apart from Buckman, and see a beaten up old Ranger coming towards you, with an equally beaten up old driver, shut your eyes, cos the grumpy old b*s**rd, ain’t stopping, or pulling over for you. If you come behind him, be prepared to do a max of 20mph……He ain’t in a rush baby! £85k Kia or not. 👍

But if you drive an Audi or a BMW…….All the very best of luck! 😳

I dont think Kia care if they fit in. They are just catering to a market. None of the others offer 7 seats and a 7 year warranty and running costs of 3p a mile either...
I think it is a minority that require 7 seats and TBH we found 7 seats in our Shogun to be a complete pain and removed them. However we were only a family of five.

I've had to work hard to avoid 7-seaters as most of those on sale in Europe compromise on legroom space for the 2nd row - we only need 5 seats, indeed wouldn't ever use the 3rd row seats as they put passengers head too close to the tailgate, in the event of a rear-end accident.

But some do. So this offers that. We had our XC90 specifically because it had 7 seats that could fold completely flat into the floor. And prior to that we had a Grand Voyager, specifically because it had seven seats.

The point is, there is a market for all sorts of things, including 500hp 7 seat MPV/SUV crossover EVs that cost £85K. I have no doubt that Kia will sell a whole bunch of them.

I've never understood the reason for trying to make an SUV into a MPV
Because some people want an SUV that can carry more than 5 people. It's _exactly_ what we wanted from our XC90. We had a 7 seat Grand Voyager, in which we regularly used all 7 seats. When we started towing, we found the GV was a poor tow car, even though it was a fantastic family car (reliability aside). We wanted a good tow car that could also carry 7 people on occasion, and a 7 seat SUV fulfils that need.

It's not easy for Hyundai/Kia to sell anything at £80k+ - it takes a long time to build a prestige brand as they're finding with Genesis - especially when the Chinese newcomers are much cheaper.

Why bother with a 7 seat car if you are going to fold the extra seats flat as that is carrying additional weight and not environmentally friendly due to extra fuel? Tongue firmly in cheek. LOL! 🤣

I wonder how often that occasion arose and was it worth the extra expense? Obviously when carrying 7 there is no room for luggage for 7 people. Does your current car have 7 seats?

However it was your choice and nothing wrong with that, however quite often when reading reviews weirdly one of the main criticisms of some SUV was lack of the 7 seats. To us not having 7 seats is a plus point. (y)

However by the same token we have always had two cars so between them they can carry 10 people and not 7. LOL! 🤣
