Hi all,

Bit of easter fun. What are your reasons for not being away in the van this weekend???

My reason? I'm first shift weekend, wife is back shift weekend. Good for watching the golf, not so good for caravanning!

Hi Robin,

We are not away this weekend as it is my baby girl's 18th Birthday on Sunday and I wanted to see her on her birthday. We will be bombing down to the Cotswolds on Monday though as I've got a week off!!

I prefer to work easter weekend and not get caught in the easter traffic. However we'll be having a long weekend next week to make up for it.

Being retired we can go away when we choose and Bank Holidays are too busy. We're off next week for a few days break.

we never go away on bank holidays as we object to sites charging so much, i dont mind a bit of a premium but most allmost double the charge and then insist on a minimum of 3 days.

its a total rip off and one i wont suport.

Robin M,

Being retired we always try to avoid Bank Holidays and School Holidays.

We usually head off a couple of days after the schools go back.

It is cheaper outside school hols and provides another pitch for caravanners who do not have a choice.

Hi All

We've just come back from Blue Dolphin at Filey (Mon-Fri) with our grandchildren.

People were queing for 35 mins. to get a drink on Thurs, can't imagine how long it will take this weekend.

On our way back we passed miles of traffic jams around York, that's why we come home for the Bank Hols.

We'll be off again one the school hols have finished.

Pointless going away on B/Hols...sites booked up since last year, 30 mile tailbacks reported on the A303 at Amesbury.

I'm working all weekend anyway, late shift.

Im working as it annual accounts time and so never have Easter break, though not retired our children are now all grown and like others prefer to go outside Bank and School holidays.Thats not because it is cheaper but sites and attractions are that much quieter so can enjoy the rest a bit more

Sorry to say this Nigel.

We are just sitting outside enjoying a nice cold glass of magners, in the lovely afternoon sunshine at Blackmore (CC).

Just about to light the barbie ;-)

To be honest the site is not that busy. There are quite a few people here, but it is by no means busy or overcrowded.

We are here until Thursday, and are getting used to our lovely little Adria. "Happy Easter Everyone"

1) too hectic both at work and on the roads - first real holiday of the season and everyone takes to the roads which means I'm busy at work and too many traffic jams out in the wide yonder or local shopping mall.

2) weather too unpredictable (I remember a few years ago driving back from Marlow on easter Thursday in a Blizzard then Good Friday went out on the motorbike in blazing sunsine)

3) Football - having paid for my season ticket I make sure I dont miss a game - sad but we all have our vices!

4) Finally I'm not into booking up years in advance for whats supposed to be a spontaneous lifestyle.

That said just booked my summer holidays for end of June and August BH and got my 1st choice area both times. Although June I did have to venture into the world of CLs for the 1st time to get a pitch but on the face of it I think I've done my self a favour.

Like the reszt of you O/H is a nurse and on duty,we have already had about 4 breaks in the van this year. We have Ben the dog who comes with us so prefer the quieter times where we can relax more, but hope al the families that have got away enjoy themselves
