Just used my wifes computer , as my old laptop has gone to be scrapped replaced with a newer version , Now my wifes computer runs on windows 7 not sure what difference this is as myold lap top ran on vista, but when i came to post a comment on windows 7 all i saw, when finished, pressing preview was a blank page, using the formula for exp 9 ,the laptop now actally responds as my old model, just curious why this should happen.

Hello Royston,

I suspect the answer to your question is not so much to do with the computer and its operating system ( e,g, Xp, Vista, Win7) but just down to the incompatability of Internet explorer 9.

Whilst Internet Explorer is bundled with most versions of Windows Operatring Systems, IE is not an essential or integral part of windows, It is a totally seperate programme. So you can turn IE off or remove it without damaging Windows.

There are plenty of mature and high performance alternatives. I personally us Googe Chrome, but occasionally also use FIrefox. There are several others that are aimed at particular types of user, such as those who regularly use facebook (rockmelt) or twitter. So do an internet seach to see whats avilalable.

I also fell foul of the PC IE9 trap on Windows 7 on one of my laptops. Google Chrome is to intrusive and I'm also not a fan of Firefox anymore.
I've been using Opera as it links with my phone browsing and has some neat customizing features. www.opera.com It also has the added feature of being able to add "Adblock". "Adblock for Opera" works really well and gets rid of all the PC website ads and speeds browsing

PC and their advertisers may not be happy about that, but it cleans the page of junk

hi all, I have just upgraded to a thinkpad with window 7, what a brilliant piece of kit much better than any of the laptops notebooks and the difference from visa is remarkable, anyway I digress. first job after registering it was to delete IE9 in favor of fire fox which I like a lot as the muliple open tags makes internet archiving far easier.
