Winterhoff friction pads

Have replaced pads with genuine winterhoff ones and now can’t get the hitch to close on tow bar
this is my first van

Then something isn't seated correctly, probably one of the pads isn't fully home.

Had mine replaced at the last service and observed what a struggle the experienced AWS engineer had to get the forward pad into place after several attempts so the hitch would close - so I agree with Mr Plodd - you need to ensure that both pads click home as per the instruction sheet supplied with the replacements.

I renewed my Winterhoff friction pads a couple of years ago. I had difficulty both removing the front pad and getting the new one into its correct seating. I wrote about it in my blog. See HERE and scroll down to item 26 - the last one.
