Winterhoff

I have seen a secondhand Jeep Cherokee I would like to buy, but while inspecting the vehicle noticed a possible problem. With a rear mounted spare wheel will I encounter a problem hitching up with a Winterhoff stabiliser, I would fit a detatchable swan neck towbar too.

paul, we use a winterhoff although not on a 4x4, but i did read about 2 years ago and was told at Ropers caravans,Catterick bridge that the winterhoff is used instead of the Alko on vechicles which have got rear fitted spare wheel, something to do with the angle of lift on the stabaliser, i hope this helps.

Hi

The AL-KO stabilizer hitches have their handles piviot at the ball, where as the Winterhoff has it's handle piviot behind the ball so the handle is several inches further from the vehicle with the Winterhoff. As for which to use I can't say, as I tow with an estate car so have no issues.

regards Brian.........
