During the installation of my status 550, I used the template and cut a 50mm hole that was required So I got about halfway through and decided to do it from the roof instead. I had noticed I had gone through 5 wires knocking out the 12v lighting.

If you have simply cut through the wires,you should be able to solder them back together,presumably they are all different coloured insulation. If you can pull through enough length to route them around the edge of the hole you have cut for you aerial the you can solder them and I would cover the joins with heat shrink material. If you do not have enough length of free cable you will need to solder in an extra length to rejoin the wires. The easiset way would be to get a short length of 7 core cable and take the coloured wires from that. If you decide to reroute the wires around your aerial base,you may need to go through the roof insulation,and a stiff wire will make the hole for you. Hope this helps.

Looking at your signature I see that your caravan is an Abbey Vogue2 495 which was a relatively late model and one of the last produced by Abbey.
From what I remember the 495 already had a Status 550 aerial fitted with the base of the aeral inside the wardrobe, was your aerial missing?
I don't quite know how to put this tactfully but I'm sorry to have to say that if you cut a hole in the roof of your caravan without either knowing or finding out where the 12v lighting wiring was routed and have now cut through the wiring it may be a good idea to seek professional help before going any further with the possibility of more damage.

If you don't join the 12v wiring correctly there is the very real possibility of a fire so a mobile engineer would be less expensive (and safer) in the long run

The owner who had it before me took it off the roof and I bought another aerial, I have booked my caravan in for a service so i will let them look at it.
Further to earlier posts it may not be a lot of help as you have already cut a new hole,but could you not re use the existing mounting hole where the previous owner had removed the aerial. From your OP I am not clear whether you have made a hole in the outer roof skin,if you haven,t you may be able to get away with covering the hole you have made,hopefully it is in a cupboard and as Parksy has suggested get the work looked at by an approved caravan engineer,even if only for peace of mind that your repair is safe.

Glad you have got it sorted, was he a Ex: kwikfit fitter ?
amazing what they can do all they did was service the undercarriage and fixed the wiring and done the aerial
I will tell you why because they are open on sundays til 4:30, so i had a quick undercarriage check and sorted the wiring out time to get a blade fuse because it blewParksy said:You must share the name of the service engineers, was it Supersonic Sids Service by any chance?
If they serviced the undercarriage are you sure that they weren't working for the RAF?
