I just contacted a joinery company and they quoted me £100 +VAT for 4 wooden blocks

Is there any special places people purchase their thick blocks from online

May just head up to Wickes but they only really have 45mm thick wood, to cater for the size dimensions of the feet

The plastic feet on the steadies are 18cm x 14cm (purchased from amazon)

A timber merchants would be better and cheaper. Perhaps a gravel board or two cut to about 9 inch lengths. Then you can pack them. If you don’t have a saw, they will cot it into as many pieces as you want for little money.

And it is pre-treeted.

Breaking down a wooden pallet will give plenty of wood of different thicknesses - I've got one going spare if anyone wants to collect from SE Staffordshire!

Have a look on EBay for caravan stacking pads - mine are circular (4 for 7.99) but there are larger square at 2 for 7.99! Also get a pair of levelling ramps for L/R levelling before using jockey wheel to level fore/aft. Then support the van by lowering the steadies when you might need some blocks for extra height on very uneven pitch.

New to me. I will need another caravan to try them.

John
Been using them for a couple of years although we have self levelling. We found that tow are adequate, but sometimes three may help just that bit extra however I think only once we have needed to use three.

Yes we thought about these, also on Amazon :)
They are extremely strong and rigid. One of the best leg steadies were Bebbington leg extenders. I bought a set when they first came out. Very good as they also widened the leg effective width for the front legs. Unfortunately no longer made but pop up occasionally on EBay.

I went on a weight-reduction exercise when we collected the new caravan a few weeks back, I had various bits of wood for levelling and ditched them for 2 x set of the Carastack pads as mentioned previously, seem to work well.

We were in the same situation once whilst staying near Holt in Norfolk. I went along to the local wood yard and found they had a damaged oak post (rotten on on side.)The guy cut me four pieces about sfiveinches thick and maybe 10 inches square (the post size.) He charged me £2 apiece - and here, nearly 20 years on, we still have the same blocks in as-bought condition.

Treated decking board cut to various lengths I use them under the steady feet, under the jockey wheel, to level our SA van or anywhere else that they may be useful. Never had a problem

I also have a few bits of "decking" off cuts, as well as the mentioned uses another is to stand the caravan wheels on when on "soft" ground.
Doing that largely avoids one or both wheels sinking into the ground during the visit.
If that happens, it leaves the steadies, and possibly the jockey carrying too much of the weight with the chassis and body "hanging" overly on these wide span points, not as it should be on the main wheels.
If you don't place the van on "planks" and see a wheel has sunk into the ground, reset the steadies at one end.

I carry 4 off some decades old wooden blocks, nicely primed and painted as one winter day's project. Done well they could last a lifetime of caravanning and these likely will. Mine are about 2.5" by 4" x 8", all planed up and with radius corners.

Well the Enigrun blocks arrived very quickly from the EBay seller, will most definitely be trying them out this weekend. Will let you all know

Very light compared to wood

We think they are great. Lightweight and cushion the steadies as well. You do get a foot imprint on the white layer but it isn’t a problem,
