The wooden doors and cupboards in my van could do with a new lease of life, say a varnish or a good waxing, has anyone done this and if so what did you use.

Are you sure they're wood? I ask, because most (all?) modern caravans have furniture built from compressed cardboard and covered with a plastic wood-effect film. It's all about weight-saving. If it really is wood, then you ned to determine what the original finish was as putting varnish over an oiled or waxed surface won't be very successful unless it is very well rubbed down with sandpaper.

Unless your caravan is quite old, as others have said, the doors won't be wood; the door frames will be DMF covered with a plastic veneer. You won't see the join. The ends of the film are in the slot where the panel is inset. Don't use any abrasive on the surface. You'll quickly remove the surface of the film, leaving a dirty brown surface behind. The panels are made likewise. A thin sheet of ply covered with plastic film.
