Looks like we will be able to plan a road trip sooner rather than later....Government have announced we will be able to holiday in our camper vans from next month providing we stay in our 'bubble' !!!!!
I’m with you, whilst a drink and meal out are enjoyable the real pleasure is just being able to visit somewhere new, or revisit a previous area. It’s just nice to be away and doing something different. We both really enjoyed our four trips out last July-October despite the relatively small inconvenience of any restriction.Crikey Gab-that's not how we caravan-we don't really go out and certainly hardly ever eat out anyway-we walk the walks look at the scenery and enjoy a new area-if that means we can have alook at a Castle or Stately home or try some of the local brews so beit but it won't be the same as being at home doing the same walks-glorious 12th-here we come-we're away!
I am with you on this one, I want to get out in the van but not until the pubs and places to eat out are open.We can wait to get away! No restaurants, no bars, no socialising, stay in your own bubble, pay 20 to 40 quid a night to do exactly what you've been doing at home for months, what is the point. We have been 'vanning' now 44 years and would normally be looking at doing 100+ nights away as we have done the last 25 years since we retired. Last year was the first year we didn't use the van in 44 years, (because of covid and other health reasons, mainly weekly hospital treatments) but shan't be using it again this year again unless we can get our 'freedom' back again! That means 'the freedom that is caravanning?'
You may possibly allowed to go, but will you be allowed back without having to be quarantined in a UK hotel at your expense? We were I Benidorm 6 weeks last summer, wasn't as busy and you have to wear masks everywhere but glad we went, bonus is the pool wasn't as busy and more choice of pitch. We'll be going again this year if allowed (I'm sure it will)
We like the Yorkshire coast we going to a CL near Whitby Abbey in AugustI am not to bother about pubs and places to eat give me Whitby Pier siting on my mobility scooter and having a ice cream looking at a view .
Hi JezzerB l am pleased there another fish n chips in Whitby i always heard about this one called Magpie fish n chips but there is one thing l cannot go because it got steps up . thanks for the recommendationBeachball-you need to add fish n chips to that one-can't go to Whitby and not have fish n chips! Trenchers my fave!
Totally agree with the change of scenery which is said to be as good as a rest. Not just the outside but change of the four wall we have been inhabiting, just sitting in the van and seeing the world go by will be much appreciated. We'll be forever saddened for the people who have lost someone to this virus, but also need to see light at the end of the tunnel no matter how small it may be. For those of us who have stuck to the rules just seeing loved ones will be a cherished point in time also, something to look forward to...........For some, a change of scenery provides a refreshing break from the restrictions that many of us have been forced to endure for months.
I enjoy a pint or a restaurant meal as much as anyone, but I could easily do that here at home among friends and family.
A different view from the window, some good fresh air and hopefully some sunshine is more than enough for us.
There's more than enough booze aboard the caravan when we're away, and both of us are good cooks so meals are never a problem.
Much as I like my back garden, I've been looking at it now since last September.
A pleasant sea view and well maintained surroundings where somebody else cuts the grass will be just what the doctor ordered when we go to Cornwall in early May.
Hi Richard and Ann l hope you get to Benidorm providing it safe and wear your masks a close relative of mine he and wife use to go twice a year they love it . to each its ownWe were I Benidorm 6 weeks last summer, wasn't as busy and you have to wear masks everywhere but glad we went, bonus is the pool wasn't as busy and more choice of pitch. I always think it better to look forward to a break and you can always change it to a later date if it a no go to each its ownFish & Chips and a scenic view = Barmouth.
Nothing booked yet, just want to make sure that when it starts it's not going to stop again.
We have a few visits to family, when we can, first. We seldom book too far ahead anyway, and as you say, I wonder what will happen next. I think people can write off going to Europe this year looking at the latest news about third spikes happening.Fish & Chips and a scenic view = Barmouth.
