No we had no plans for going away at Easter. Today hosted BIL and Monday our daughter comes around for a roast lamb lunch.

Re my nosebleed I presented at our local hospital around 1200 pm but they could not do anything. But they offered to call an ambulance to take me either to Bath or Swindon. But we had our car so we opted to drive in to Bath. Luckily we did as on arrival at RUH A&E there were eight ambulances queuing. So my wife dropped me at the entrance and drove off to find a parking slot. Like a true Brit I joined the queue getting lots of stares with lots of blood. But a lady stood up grabbed my arm and walked me to the reception and banged on the window. The response was that I was triaged there and then and shot through to Urgent Care. The staff were brilliant in initial treatment, booked me a bed overnight if required and then moved me to Surgical Assessment Unit where drips were put in and bloods BP etc. and stayed overnight. Ready for discharge the nurse even arranged for a speedy delivery of meds to the Discharge Lounge to enable my wife to collect me rather than having to reshuffle her commitments which would have led to a five hour wait.

In all the care provided was brilliant and I dread to think what it has cost the NHSto deal with my nosebleed. With more to come as my kidneys took a hit. What I found amazing was that listening to medical staff dealing with other patients was the caring , and professional approach, not seeking to rush the discussions.

So my wife is on dog walking duties and might even be persuaded to fire up the Alko. 👍
You are very lucky to have an A&E like that near you. Our local hospital trust is bottom of the league. OH went for what was supposed to be a day booking for an infusion. She ended up sleeping two nights in the corridor in A&E, then was found a bed for 3 nights and discharged without having the infusion done as her booking was for 5 days previous. A mistake had been made!

Yes, with Bath and Swindon we are well served. Glad your wife came out of it okay but it must have been upsetting at the time.

She was plonked right outside a nurses station listening to them discussing who had croaked during the night so was quite upsetting! We do not blame the nurses etc, but the management at the hospital needs a good overall instead of awarding themselves huge bonuses.
