I have booked for the Thursday to Thursday, No deposit required , Rose just said they will email me a month before to confirm if we are still attend, very nice.

The Woosies fest is open to anyone who wants to attend, just a getting together at the weekend to put names to faces.

The favoured site is https://pontkemys.co.uk weekend of 18th, 19th April 2026. Remember the prices will probably rise from the 2025 advertised.

We could come along as visitors but without the caravan, possibly stay overnight somewhere nearby.
Would just need to know if we can just pop in and say hello - be good to put some faces to names, or whether you are planning a get together as a group at a local pub etc.
Just let me know and I'll get the ball rolling.
Obviously if you'd like I could do a talk about my expert experiences as a long term caravanner.....but won't mention the details of my recent visit to the A and E department at the JR in Oxford following an unfortunate meeting between the top of my left thumb and a very sharp Stanley knife ( copious amounts of my very sought after blood was shed in the effort to "reshape my thumb"....)

Captain Chaos......aka Steri Strip Steve.

Steve, I am sure that would not be a problem, you have my phone number, let me know beforehand and we can sort something out. We normally try and have a pub get together, over the weekend, and also hopefully transfer the Monarchy, to someone else.
We also tend to have a "Jacobs table" where we all place in some food to be munched at by everyone there. Normally at the caravan site.

Other than that everyone just does their own thing.
It would be nice to see you there.

No, maybe like us they decide at the last moment,
Just been down to Gwithian for two weeks, decided on the Friday and went on the Wednesday. The weather was supposed to be damp, so only took one pair of shorts, the weather was great. Those shorts almost walked home.

Why didn't you use them to tow the caravan home? 🤣 🤣

You washed them in the sea each day😉
If we still had an active PM facility we could write to the missing Woosies. Maybe Mel could help us🤔

Is it worth asking PCv Editors to advertise the Woosiefest in their letters page? A follow on from the glory days of the Nigel Donnelly et al PCv Rally days at Stowford Meadows?

Motor homes are also welcome, Gagakev’s on the dark side now😜

Let me know Hutch and I’m happy to do the scripts.

I may also ask Gabsgrandad and Jean if they could help with a Woosie Quiz?
Pont Kemys is not too far from the Midlands and a Gloucestershire areas. Maybe we could invite day trippers?

Let me know plus any other ideas?
Cheers

Day trippers would be welcome. Also perhaps a notice in the General section for forum members who don’t read the Woosie Thread? I could DM previous Woosies. Thing is, if they read the forum they will already know about it. If they don’t read the forum they won’t see the DM. As far as I know Mods don’t have access to members email addresses as they used to back in the day, when Parksy and Damien could pass email addresses between members.
Start with a shout out in the General section ( not titled Woosies) and see if anyone responds.

Will the campsite allow day trippers and if so, at what cost?

I will investigate.
We are going there in a few weeks time. Best raise this face to face than on line. That said we do have a Woosie meal for those who want at the local hostelry which comes well recommended. Again I need to chat to them.

We are here at Pont Kemys. It is a lovely site. We are in the Adults only section on a FSP. At present there is only us and 5, currently unoccupied, seasonals on this bit. The main part of the site is similarly quiet. There isn’t a toilet block on this section but the toilet and shower block in the main section is not too far away especially if you are down one end of the adults section. The toilet block is clean and bright, although haven’t tried the showers as we use our own.
We had a lovely meal in the Chainbridge Inn yesterday and the restaurant area is spacious. To get to it you cross the road and follow a gravel footpath that runs between a field and the hedge that borders the road. I think a mobility scooter will be OK but DD can give his opinion when he arrives ( sadly we won’t see each other ☹️). At the end of the footpath you cross a road junction ( not busy) and then there is a concrete footpath over the Chainbridge. There is then 30 to 40 yards ( if that) of walking on the road to the pub entrance. I think we could negotiate it safely in the dark.
Any questions, please ask and I will report back

How was it getting to the site? Great looking forward to next year.

From us it was motorway and dual carriageway for most of the way. We got off the A40 and then took the Clytha Road to the B4598. We had been warned that there were road closures on the B 4598 ( the road the site sits on) by the site owner but they told us it was OK to come this way. Moment of anxiety when the turning onto B4598 had road closed signs partly across it. Carried on anyway and it was fine as the road was closed beyond the site. ( on the USK side) The Clytha road and the B4598 is an easy tow.

Thanks Mel for the write up, Mrs H has been getting better with the walking, train Station in St Ives to The Sloop, so she will probably make it ok to the pub and back. Maybe drive her Chariot to the gate and lock it there, walk the rest.
Enjoy the area.

I use 2 bicycle type cable locks.
1 goes through the battery handle and the handle on top of the motor.
2nd goes through the 1st and around whatever is convenient to secure it to. On site that's normally the caravan wheel.
