WW2 sites

We spent a couple of nights on our way back from France at Les Haute Coutures. Not the prettiest of sites but it has a restaurant, pool and shop and the facilities are fine. Its a 10 minute or so walk along the canal to the cafe Gondree and Pegasus bridge and close enough to the landing beaches. Depending on your ferry arrival and departure times, you may also find it useful as they cater for early and late arrivals.

Have a look at Le Chateau De Martragny - stayed there twice now specifically to visit D-Day beaches and memorials. It is situated between Caen and Bayeux. From here you are in easy reach of all the British Landing beaches. A must is the British War Cemetery at Bayeux with the brilliant War Museum adjacent. The American War Cemetery above Omaha Beach is also within easy reach and all the British Landing down to Ouistreham close to Pegasus Bridge. Purchase a "Normandie Pass" available at museum sites and you can get a discount off all the other sites and museums. The Campsite is listed in the Camping Cheque Directory Page 44.

excellent site with large pitches and convenient for the beaches

We have a 1944 Willys Jeep & Trailer as well as an X-trail +Swift challenger and have toured the Normandy area many times. We have used the Municipal site at Bayeux, Camping La Reine Victoria at Etreham and Chateau Martragny. All good sites with easy access to the places you'll want to visit.

Have a great time.

I can also recommend the site at Bayeux, also the municipal at Ste Mere Eglise. It's basic but well located with a very short walk to the town where 82nd Airborne dropped on D Day.
