can some body tell me if the x-trail 2 ltr petrol is any good for towing only thinking of buying a caravan but don,t want to change the car

Hi Washy,

We used to have a 51 plate, 2.0 petrol X-Trail which was a fine tow car. The only draw back was the fuel economy, especially when towing. You will find yourself in 4th gear quite often on motorway inclines, but its pretty good apart from that.

I would say there is no need to change the car 'just' because its petrol, however if you do decide to change the car for any other reason I would opt for diesel for towing. We changed to a diesel X-Trail for the increase in weight, economy and more relaxed towing.
