Yippee

My new Sorento Titan is sitting on the drive outside my window as I type!!

I collected it from Ken Jervis of Stoke on Trent last night and drove it home 50 odd miles up the M6. It's a 2007 "demonstrator" which only had 15 miles on the clock in metallic silver. I had done a lot of internet research and got a very good OTR price of £20,295 - a saving of 22% on the list price.

I part-exed my '98 Vauxhall Monterey for £1K. I had hoped for more for it but could not get them to budge. They even refused to throw in any extra bits when they had said they would - still it' a good deal for me.

I need to notch up 50 miles now and get a towbar fitted so that I can hook up the caravan.

Thanks for all the advice I received from folk on this forum when I was looking at purchasing this car.

Best wishes

Tim

Hi Tim

Congrats. on the new motor, must say I envy you, we had the Sportage from Jervis's but must admit really liked the Sorento.

Check your handbook as in the Sportage's it advises 1,000 miles before towing.

We've notched up around 7,000 miles in the Sportage and really enjoy it, tows well as well.

All the best

Tomo

Hi Tim

Excellent choice. The Sorie is packed with goodies and loads of muscle. One of the best tuggers I've ever had.

Have you joined the Sorento forum? There are over 1700 members now all with Sories.

I tow a twin axle and my Sorie makes easy work of it.

Cheers

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone.

Unfortunately bad chest infection means that I am only looking out of the window at the new car at the moment. Rather slowed me down for getting a towbar put on or putting on those extra miles but patience is a virtue.... they say

Hi Tim

Hope you recover soon.

The Sorie engine has one peculiarity. The handbook and a sticker inside the car say leave the engine running for a few minutes at the end of a long, hard , journey. It allows the turbo to cool down and remain fully lubricated.

Honest John of the Daily Telegraph recommends this action for all turbo diesel engines.

Cheers

I am sure you will enjoy your new tug. Alan is right about leaving the engine running after a hard journey, towing or even high speed on motorways. Just 3 or 4 minutes. I've had mine for two years three months and it has never let us down. We have twin axle.
