Every other thread contains "4x4's are bad."

I found this forum a few weeks ago when I was looking for information caravan bathroom fittings. But all I see now is "4x4's are bad!", all over. Many people seem to complain about them, but all I see from the Moderators are inflammatory comments, fueling the fire and abuse. I am going to...

    confussed by towin laws

It is hard work to read! Also, it takes no more time to type proper words and sentences, so I don't see what you gain, apart from the continued attrition of the English language!

Electrolux RM 270 Fridge doesn't work

Also, make sure your van is level before testing the fridge. They do take a while to cool down as well!

    Brake fade

Roger - from what I understood from the first post the electronics seemed to be detecting that the caravan was applying more force onto to tow-hitch than it should, indicating that the brakes wern't braking as effectively as they should, which seems a reasonable way to detect it.

The use of 2 way radios...a growing trend?

Stopped at the first services out of Dover on the way back (it was rather late!) and found I had to pay for...

Using credit cards at petrol stations

The automatic payment pumps I found only accepted Carte Bleu - my Visa Chip 'n' Pin wouldn't work. The time before last we were on our way down, it was about 1:00am, we were off of the Autoroute and there was not one petrol station open. In the end we realised that we had to get back on the...

What's on your French shopping list?

I find that wine is a good way to get a bit of nose weight on the van :) I mostly go for some nice big lumps of interesting cheese, the more the better! Although, half-way through the 700-mile trip back from the south of france is not the time to find out that the fridge isn't working on 12V...

    Refitting old bathroom - questions

Hi all, I bought an old Elddis Whirlwind Clubman when I was in france last month. It is my first van, I have been thinking about getting a van for a while, and this one came up at the right price, and in good order. Doing 700 miles back from France is an interesting introduction to towing...
