    Sterling Europa front drawer unit

Thanks for your replies, that probably means I should do something worthwhile instead!

    Sterling Europa front drawer unit

After 4 years I have discovered that the drawer unit removes by simply lifting up and pulling forward. I feel a bit stupid! I just thought the build quality was so poor it was meant to rattle around. BUT the real question is what do I do with it when I have removed it? It will slot down into...

12v supply not working on EHU

Sterling Europa 490 2004, 240v works fine, 12v suddenly has become only available from battery. The battery is not charging, but on-board condition meter shows things to be "green". Battery became discharged, but charged fine at garage charger. Charger switch is on, ESM 2 unit switch in "van"...

Any cheaper alternatives for a satellite dish to a tripod?

I bought cheapest Tesco whirly dryer. Remove rope and turn up-side-down. Use loops of rope to secure legs to ground with pegs. I needed a jubilee clip to stop the dish pole rotating in the wind, but apart from that very successful!

Cleaning the water and waste pipes

Don't know why people haven't leapt in to this one, as it's a well asked question. Your handbook should tell you this, but this is my way of doing it. Drains is simple - bleach regularly keeps pipes and wastehog sweet. Watch out for pipes that have a droop under van, this can trap foul water...

    Carrying bikes

Buy racks/bars/fittings that are the best quality you can, and make sure of the security before setting off, and at breaks. Sorry that sounds bad. I followed a car last Monday over the A66 who lost a bike. Luckily I was well back, so could slow down and wait for bike to stop bouncing! Landed...

    gas butane///propane

Yes, did it two years ago in cold snap. You'll need new regulator - screw in type. Make sure the hose is properly connected, if in doubt ask expert. I think you have to go to a Calor distributor, not just ordinary retailer, to change un-like bottles. Check on calor website for your local one.

    Dumfries Galloway Help

One of my favourite sites is Kippford. Lovely site, play area, small shop. Short walk to Village with two good pubs, lots of boats, and really nice coastal walks. Short drive to dalbeattie, castle douglas, kirkcudbright; very pleasant towns. Lots of forest walks etc nearby, and this is excellent...

    Toilet Chemical.Any Advice please

I've tried bio wash liquid as flush this year over about 8 weeks. Very pleasant fresh smell, and much nicer at emptying time. Seemed to complement tank fluid, but I believe some people use bio wash as their cassette fluid too. Flush tank has had no black bits, and bowl is always clean. I used...

    Commercial Vehicles on Campsites

I think the wardens discretion comes into play: I have been asked to park outside sites when I had a car with my employers name on the boot lid. (picky council run site) Other sites, including CC, allow vans if they are unlettered, and I see a lot of foreigners travel this way to carry all the...

    satellite system

all the info you need is here - http://www.satelliteforcaravans.co.uk/ Very helpful website, and very helpful chap! From my own experience, you need patience. Something basic will be wrong, and no amount of twirling the dish with sort it. I got my Screwfix kit to work, but only after two days...

    caravanning cat dilemma

Maybe just reinforcing previous advice: go for it ! Our little puss loves the van, warm and comformfortable equals happy happy cat. Try- out days or weekends are good idea, we had days, weeks and then 2 mnths! Cat harness is essential, do not use a collar on it's own, that can damage a cats...

    Calmac ferry worries

Hi, what time of year are you travelling?? Weather does vary a lot, and obviously sea state can become a bit rough in Winter, but in Summer I wouldn't worry too much; if it's too rough they won't sail! Not so much worried about sinking, but that they can't dock! Sit as low down as possible and...

Transporting gas refills on their side.

With forklift trucks the cylinder is on it's side; although there is a "right way up"! They are special cylinders, so there must be a reason.
