    BMW Towbar Electrics

I fitted a towbar to a 2008 5 series so likely the same generation can-bus wiring. If all your lights are OK, the simplest option would be to put a split-charge relay in to drive the fridge. Simply puts a heavy-duty 12v supply out on the fridge pin when the engine is running and turns it off...

    Calor Lite Recall IMPORTANT...PLEASE READ

I've sold the caravan so no longer have a need for it. No chance of finding the original paperwork to get my deposit back so will just get what I can for it. Given the rarity of the lite bottles I can only assume the gas in it is worth quite a bit more than usual gas although I will of course...

    Calor Lite Recall IMPORTANT...PLEASE READ

Can someone the going rate for an almost full calor-lite bottle? I've got one that is now surplus. It's been used for testing the heating when we first got the van and perhaps 3 kettles full of water. With all the deposits, rentals, refills etc, not easy to work out a fair price for one.

    Where to sell?

Considering selling our caravan. We purchased it used from our local dealer winter 2017 used it last year but not likely to use it this year so considering selling it and buying something else in a couple of years. Where have people had the best success in selling caravans around the £10k...

    Mice!!!?

There are about 9 billion trees nearby... don't think the 5 I took out of the bedding bag are going to cause him too much of a problem :) I'll go back in a couple of weeks to see if the herculean mouse has managed to remove the very wedged brillo pad. The pads come pre-loaded with soap so...

    Mice!!!?

Nipped down to the storage site the other day to make sure everything is OK and collect a few bits I wanted to bring home. Everything looked OK until I went under one of the front seats and found a few acorns! Further investigation found a few more chewed acorns and associated bits of shell...

    Powrtouch mover, calibration?

Can also be a problem if the wiring is asymmetrical. Given the control box is usually biased to one side of the van, it is possible to have a really short set of wires to one motor and a full length set to the other. A professional installer will typically keep the lengths similar with the...

    Oradour-sur-Glane

Check out the world at war series on youtube for some more OsG background. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLBZGq9WQx4 And if you do go, also visit teh little museum up on the hill inside the village enclosure. We nearly didn't and it was also very enlightening. Good café in the village...

    Oradour-sur-Glane

Well worth a visit and the local scenery is breath-taking. Easy access to the likes of Cognac too. My favourite area of France down that way.

    Time to replace some equipment.

Indeed. So sold it on and went for an aquaroll instead. Slightly smaller but everything is geared up for it.

    Time to replace some equipment.

Depending on your pump, you may have problems with the waterhog cap being too big for the rubber cover to get over. I briefly had a waterhog but you needed to then buy a new rubber widget for the water pump to stop rubbish getting into the water. Or in my case bodge up an additional over-cover...

Front locker hinge challenge - Elddis

Not sure if this is a common design/problem or specific to Elddis but I'm sure the time-served folk on here will have fixed it..... Our Elddix Xplore has a flimsy front locker door. It's fixed all the way along the top by a hinge to the body of the caravan. This "hinge" is effectively 2 U (or...

    Audi Q5 dodgy socket electrics?

Travelling over the weekend we followed one van which had no lights at all and one which had permanent reverse lights and nothing else. We managed to pull alongside the first one told him, but he already knew. We were unable to let the second one know. Both were pretty new Q5s with modern...

Draught skirt - keep it in place

With a very cold wind we had a chance to experiment over the weekend. Using the Kampa wheel cover pocket thing limpeted to half covert the fridge vent (was not needing to work 100% efficiently as it was close to zero outside) it covers the wheel gap but "gapes" across the lower awning rail...

    Whale pump occasionally cycling

Hi All, Firstly, impressed that Whale take the trouble to respond to Forum posts. Secondly it does look like it's the hot water cooling down. With it being positively Baltic in Devon over the weekend we had a chance to experiment. The cycling takes place mostly when the hot water tank is...
