Hi Adam,

You don't say if you have the Scenic or the new Scenic II, nor the engine power / torque, nor the kerb-weight of your car, nor the maximum tow weight from your handbook. You are going to need that information to find out what you can tow safely.

By safe - I'm going to follow the guidelines from the Caravan Club - which is that your caravan (max permissible weight) shouldn't exceed 85% of the kerb-weight of your car. Nothing carved in stone - just a good guide.

And as you've probably already guessed you going to be looking at the smaller, lighter weight models - no problem there - you'll still achieve good fuel consumption.

You're probably looking at an Eriba Puck, Puck L or Familia; or a Tabbert T@B; or maybe a lighter model from the UK manufacturers. Both the Eriba and the T@B will make people smile - cute, easy to tow, and bags of style.

But find out the weight and power details for your car.

Hi Jim

our first towcar was a Scenic 1.4 16v petrol, we tow an Eriba Familia as rob_jax suggests.

we checked out all the weights in advance and successfully towed with ours, just don't expect to get anywhere fast! Hills are also a problem, mind you we did have a car full.

just watch your weight calcs as, from memory Renaults kerbweight quotes only include the driver, not passengers or luggage.

if yours is a diesel all the better, but you are definately looking at the smaller end of the market principally due to lack of power.

let me know if you need any more info. Mark (",)
