I had two xTrails back to back and found them exceptionally good towcars. There was a known Turbo problem around the years of my first one, a 54 plate. Come my second one, in 07 this had been fixed and was superb. The first one blew the Turbo at three weeks old. I had only two minor disappointments with both apart from the turbo. I found that they tend to get through front tyres rather quickly and the lacquer on the alloy wheels was very poor and started to peel on both cars at around 12 months old. Should say that both of mine were the 2.2 dci and not the later 2.0dci.
All in all though, they were both excellent. Towing consumption slightly less than claimed but adequate, performace and stability as good as you will find anywhere.
