Hi, just got back from hols having found a lot of damp.
Basically most of the right hand side
Stains below window
Paper not sticking to wall
Mould around window sill and latches
Flower of mould on outside of van
Wall separating from some fixtures
From front to middle lounge.

seems ok in wardrobe!!
Wall around bathroom mirror partially spongy.
Toilet wall top left spongy and also first part of toilet shelf very spongy

so all in all, a bloody mess.
Is this a internal complete wall replacement?
Anyone know any good repair shops
We are Midlands based
Gutted doesnt even go there.4EED938E-614A-4801-9D44-D522A8E455C8.jpeg

Try Premier Towing Center Tipton WM. they have been in business for a long while and are members of the Approved Workshop Scheme with large repair and servicing bays.

Your pictures don’t look good so be prepared for a very substantial bill. When was your Caravan last damp checked as this must have been present for quite a while. Or have you recently bought it ?

Interested to hear back what a specialist reports.

Of course, you can say that is shortsighted.

Thanks for suggestion.
Actually a very nice couple we met on holiday suggested them as well.
Perfect distance for us.
I am expecting £2000 to £3000
I dont feel anywhere near confident myself, to take it on, just obviously gutted

I would be inclined to see what the specialist says, could be a lot worse than you can see, then get a valuation as it stands and prepare to move the van on if the cost to repair is prohibitive,at 12 years old it is likely to develop some other issues over time, might be a hard decision as you say the rest is all good, but I think I would be looking longer term.

Did have the dehumidifier on for a couple of weeks, not that its going to do much.
Rest of van is in such good nick!!
A repair shop will have large commercial heaters that are used to aid drying out once the rotten areas have been opened up and rotten sections removed prior to any rebuilding. Dehumidifiers aren’t that effective unless a volume can be sealed up. Otherwise you find yourself dehumidifying the atmosphere.

From the description and what can be seen (not much) in the pictures I would think it is past redemption, or if it is at a very high price.
It will be interesting to hear what is said when assessed.

The heaters that I have seen in use at the main manufacturers are simple fan heaters, nothing large or commercial as they would not fit inside the van.

In fact at one manufacturers whilst I was there one of the staff used his protimeter as a wedge to direct the heat at a damp area and succeeded in melting his damp meter !!!!!

A valid point. I was reflecting on a large rotary fan heater used externally to dry the rear of my previous Bailey caravan when it had its rear panel replaced due to hairline cracking.
