316 engine?

Anyone have experience of the 2.2 163ps 316cdi Mercedes engine mated to the 7 speed tiptronic? If you know how it performs in a Sprinter even better. Thank you.

Good performance for a van but that is a van.Quite slow and agricultural compared to any decent car.Out of interest what would the layout be and are you going to use it to tow the van?

Hello Hutch, That's what we're looking at :cheer: Waiting on a load of rather scary quotes.
Seth, it'll be a bespoke disability conversion, drive from wheelchair with auto docking and interchangeable front seat so either of us can drive/passenger with some sort of seating in the back for the girls. Absolute design yet to be finalised and dependent on my chair measurements. Yes we'll be towing with it.

Nice piece of kit no doubt about it.You might be less than impressed with the fuel consumption only because its a van.The other question mark as with all 3.5 ton vans towing trailers is tacho laws.Bit of an unclear area.

It's quite normal as a mobility vehicle and the converters sort weights of what's fitted very carefully. I think the biggest worry is being stopped every five minutes on a journey with a van towing a twin axle the police will think we've pinched it. Having said that it will be fully glazed.
