Abbey / Swift Overhead Cupboards

Did anybody ever come up with a solution to keeping the overhead cupboards open and to stop them closing on either your head or hands.

It is obviously a problem on all Abbeys / Swifts, I was just wondering if anybody ever manged to cure it without having to prop every door open.

We have got a new 2007 Swift Challenger 540 and just loaded it up. no problem with the lockers, stayed open whilst put all the bits back in.

We have a 2007 Swift Conqueror 655. The overhead cupboards stay open without any problem. The side ones work on a sprung hinge mechanism and the front ones on a rachet mechanism.

Our 2005 model still has the plastic type hinges.

We will be replacing it next year so its nice to know they have solved the problem.

In the meantime I'll do what Damian suggests and get some stays from B&Q....anythings better than bruised heads and trapped fingers!

Thanks

Simon

We have a dealer special based upon the Sterling 520 which arrived from the factory in Nov 2005 with their new plastic formed bed and locker bases. All the overhead locker hinges were tighened twice by the dealer to solve this issue, but that did not work, especially for the larger airliner type doors.

The manufacturers were contacted and they, probably reluctantly, agreed to the fitment of a THIRD hinge, which has certainly solved the problem for us.These things do hurt when they suddenly smack you.

Might be worth approaching your supplying dealer for them to try this for you.
