Accord Tourer CDTi 2.2 sport or Passat 2.0 TDI Sport Estate???

Our car is now sold so its towcar time, We have narrowed down our choice to either an Accord tourer CDTi or a Passat TDI Sport Estate, either will likley be at around the 100k mile mark but dont think this will be an issue with full service history??
We had an Accord 2.4 petrol a few years ago and loved it but it was to thirsty day to day and i have a Golf TDI as work transport right now which is also very good.
There is little to choose between the Passat and Accord when not towing (and the wife likes them both which as she will be driving it everyday is important) but as i have no towcar experience im after some opinions on how they are towing.
Our caravan is 1211kg mtplm so both will be towing around 80-85%.
Both are Sport models (i generally prefare sportier models in cars) and have slightly lower suspension as standard, is this an issue???

Thanks in advance for any advice, Chris

Both cars as far as I know are superb towcars, being the sport they may well have up rated suspension which will be better with the caravan in tow, I don't know what passat engine you're looking at 1.9 or 2.0 both are fantastic but I believe the dual mass flywheel on the 2.0 is a weakness, but then this applies to so many towcars these days, however I haven't heard this about the Accord, either way both very nice cars, my advice would be to find 2 that you like that are near to each other and drive them both as soon as you can, when both are fresh in your mind you can make up your own mind to which you prefer
