We were only on a site last year and whilst there watched someone doing the same. They had some old Euro wood pallets and spaced them over the area of the Awning. Then fixed some 18 mm thick exterior sheets of Plywood over them to make level floor, and screwed to the pallets. The Awning was then placed on top and around the sides were fitted timber boards the depth of the pallets, to stop any Rodents going underneath, and then the hold down straps fixed to the vertical boards with screws.

The one we see being done ,the pallets were probably obtained free so the only cost would have been the 8x4 sheets of plywood covering. I don’t think any height was lost as the poles were adjusted down the 100 mm of the pallet as could be seen showing outside of the palletsQuite a few on my site use pallets, either wood or plastic. I have no been in those awnings, but I suspect the headroom would be very poor.
I have used the interlocking foam, which is not too bad. But I am seriously considering Isabella interlocking tiles next season. Would be about £450 for me. Might be a couple of hundred more than pallets, but has other advantages.
