Hi Everyone

We have bought a caravan this weekend - despite telling ourselves we were only thinking about it!

Its a compass omega 460/2 (2001) in beautiful condition.

Lots to think about - insurance, storage, equipment etc

Been on Caravan and Camping Club website also

The Caravan Club website.

Which is best to join?

Is there much difference?

Would welcome any advice.

Welcome to the forum Glenise and congratulations on your caravan purchase.

There is a reasonably well balanced discussion on the clubs which you can read by clicking Here

The main difference is that the C&CC is not restricted to caravans, tent campers are equally welcome.

Both offer services such as caravan insurance, breakdown recovery, continental sites etc and both clubs have quiet sites licensed for 5 caravans as well as their main club sites.

The C&CC offers a discount scheme with free nights on some sites and further discount for over 55s.

Why not join or stay as a guest on both to find out which club you prefer?

Hi Glenise,

Good advice from Parksy. The debate about which club is best still rages on. Send away for as much info as poss from both clubs. Different people have different tastes.

Anyway welcome to the forum. Ask loads of questions. There is always someone out there who knows the answers (or think they know hee hee)

At the moment we belong to both, we have always bee in the CC but wanted to give the C&CC ago, whilst l like the few we stayed on, the other half was not that impressed, so this year we will only belong to the CC.

Don't let this put you off do what Parskey says try both and make your own minds up.

It maybe just us, but we felt the CC were just a little better cared for.

PS

Plus on the CC you can pick your own pitch, not so on C&CC site. You have to follow the person on the Bike, l know you can refuse it and take another but we felt the warden was a little put out if you wanted a different pitch.

We like to drive round and pick the one that suits us, not what suits the wardens.
