We're trying to find a site for a couple of week's break in our caravan in late January / early February.

We'd like to visit Dorset - my wife has happy family and holiday associations with the Weymouth area.

I'm struggling to find any site with decent winterised facilities (like the Caravan Club provide)in that area. But the CC doesn't have any all-year sites in the South West.

Can anyone advise, please?

A decent pub within walking distance would be a bonus.....!!

Thanks

Chris

Hunters Moon CC site Nr Wareham is open all year. Very nice site with small dog walk. Very near to this is Wareham forest Camp site. Again open all year. I can certainly vouch for Hunters moon as we stayed there last New Year.

Chris, Merley Court on the outskirts of Wimborne is very good with an on site bar but only open March - January.

The Hunters Moon CC site near Wareham is also very good with a short walk to the Silent Woman and is open all year.

Wareham Forest is open all year with good facilities and is no problem except when the weather is very wet.

Chris, I see that your dates are not right for Merley Court. Bagwell Farm at Weymouth is open all year but I havn't used it in the winter www.bagwellfarm.co.uk

Thanks guys, for useful info.

Don't know why we missed the CC site at Hunter's Moon - probably because we were looking at the other end of Dorset to be near Weymouth. But that one looks like the answer.

We did look in at the Wareham Forest site many years ago during a winter visit and it looked a bit bleak and empty. We stayed at Bagwell Farm in December about 4 years ago and were the only people there for 2 weeks! The site wasn't really geared up for winter caravanning - no hard standings, although the loo block was partially heated, but not very welcoming - the owners were charming however.

I think we'd like the company of others at a CC site - not to get in their way, just to have others around.

So thanks for the advice.

Cheers

Chris
