i dont particularly like football either i grew out of it years ago but as we live near norwich and my other half is a season ticket holder we have to wait till the fixtures come out and book our holidays around them and we then have to find sites near the football grounds when theyre playing away!Annoying or what!

yes well klarkey each to his own i suppose i just hope you mean the football club and not the city as its a great place, and there are a lot worse i suppose- ipswich town for one and yes sara we have been to some nice places i suppose and i do get a day of peace when he goes off to the match....bliss!
Sarah the reason I said to deduct 10 points is because the more severe the penalty on the club the sooner they will sit up and take notice and then hopefully clean the game up by eradicating the cheating element out of the game. And yes it does happen in all clubs - from the top in the premier right down to local village games. If the player thinks they can get away with it they will try. So no matter what level of play we are talking about the price for cheating must be met. Regarding the language barrier a cheat is a cheat - Maradona is a good example with his hand of God. No matter what corner of the world the player is from the FIFA governing rules apply and therefore must be adhered to. Language is no excuse - he shouldn't have done it in the first place. If he has difficulty in understanding the language why not have an interpretater - he can understand orders at both match and training so I cannot accept that he did not realise what he was saying.
However, although I am one of the few Welshmen who does not support rugby, I think that game, since becoming a professional game, is going down the same route. So it is not only in football are there cheats - you could probably find cheating, to a greateror less extent, in all professional sports - drug taking being a typical example.

yes denise, i mean the club,norwich is a lovely place,only been the once.camped at a rather awful campsite in yarmouth,enough said????
yes well yarmouths a different kettle of fish completely but its ok for chips on the market!Luckily we live halfway between norwich and yarmouth near one of the broads .
Denise my nephew and his family live in Norwich and works for Norwich Union. I envy him during the summer as in my opinion it is one of the nicest areas of the UK. However from what I can gather this winter has been bitter cold and with a fair bit of snow. Still I suppose one can't have everything rosy. Only once have I been up that area but the general beauty of the area had a lasting effect on me - as a steam enthusiast I quite liked Bressingham Hall.
I have spent a lot of time boating on the Broads, about 15 times we went, sadly its too commercialised now, far too many boats. We then widened our horizons and for 3 years went boating on the Canal du Midi and Canal du Rhone a Sete. Realising how much it was costing us we decided to buy a little cruiser on the Monmouth & Brecon Canal and had 6 lovely years cruising that. After 6 years we sold the boat for

So can Arsenal actually win the CL then? they were competent last night although I was really disappointed with Juve - glad for the gooners though.
Villareal are a good attacking team although weak at the back, so I dont see them being a problem. Barca are a different proposition. Anyone know where the final is being played?

I'm not an Arsenal supporter but if they play like they did against Juventus at home they are unstopable. It was the best game I've seen in years. OK you get some games that are good in fits and starts but that was 90 minutes of pleasure with no let up :O)
Indeed, especially as all the talk beforehand had been about Patrick Viera and his influence - Fabregas blew him away.

I'd put Terry and Lampard in that bracket as well, on paper you should do really well and you wont have a better chance than Germany - no European nation has won the WC outside Europe.
However England are ranked 4th (I think) so will have to play better than in recent years and carry the luck - I fear that the media are setting the supporters up for a fall.

No thoughts on it really Mark, its the sign of the times now. The players are playing for the club who pays them their grossly over inflated salaries these days, not England. Juventus only had 4 Italians in their squad. I know a footballers career is a short one and when playing for teams in the Premiership they are at the top of their profession but the weekly wages they are on just blows my mind away. When they have 2 home matches how the hell do people afford to pay to go through the turnstiles? It's even worse if you have kids going too. Surely they have to go short on something in their lives to pay for it, like furniture for their home. Even travelling to away matches with booze and fags must cost an arm and a leg. They must all be This Executive or That Executive, certainly not Ambulance Service staff.
With England they play brilliant or are crap, no happy medium. Personally I fear the worse but for my son's sake, who is a footy fanatic and is going to Germany, I hope they do well. I can't see them winning though but it all boils down to a certain amount of luck on the day I suppose. I can put up with them losing as long as they try but what I cant put up with is incidents like Maradonnas hand of God goal or Beckhams sending off for not controlling his temper. Years of planning have gone to get a team that far without cheats, no matter what team they play for. Maybe football will come into the 21st Century one day and have touchline replays to help the ref make a correct decision. Even the Argie Beckham kicked, and he hardly touched him, went down as if he was pole axed just to get him sent off.
