Just been looking at some of the places for booking a holiday, why do some sites not allow you to book a pitch beforehand? Is this a common thing?

I means some do and some don’t, and we prefer to book a pitch more close, and allow us to see the park for example where our son will be playing.
Just a part of life's rich tapestry Im afraid.

The Clubs have never allowed pre pitch bookings. First come first served. Obviously much easier to manage for them. Commercial and private sites generally allow pre pitch booking as do some CLs.
Where are you thinking of going?

Ok travelling down from Scotland in end of July, we have now booked down west wide,
Silverdale Caravan Park 4 nights, then onwards to Whitemead Caravan park for 6 days…
then we want to travel across east to around maybe York / Scarborough area…between 5th-9th Aug

Anyone have any park suggestions around this area, with a park and fully serviced pitch?

Holgates( silverdale) all serviced pitches, not all but most have hedges .Really big pitches if you go to top of site, although you’re then the furthest away from the main building, which houses a swimming pool, small bowling lanes, restaurant and bar. There are a couple of kids play parks dotted around.
It’s in north Lancashire,so don’t know how far you wish to travel.
Just been here, and leaving tomorrow for Whitemead.

Must say its a nice site, well stocked shop, swimming pool, restaurant with nice food and bar.

We were sited at the furthest away pitches with the high hedges, but one thing we did notice was the WiFi was very poor, hardly any cellular signal and no signal for the TV but they did supply aerial connections. Oh and some windy thin(ish) roads to get here if anyone else is thinking.

Great site though, and thank you for the recommendation.

P.s watch out for the showers, when someone runs the tap to wash their hands the hot water switches off.

We just appear in the website gallery for Severn Valley Touring Park in Awre village. Some pitches are hedged on 3 sides and fully serviced. The pitch numbers are shown in aerial view on the gallery. A delightful small family run site - however no dogs because of local animals. Good local countryside walks and almost next door to a cider farm where weekend ploughman’s lunches can be had with a glass of apple nectar!
