auto OR manual

I'm really sorry about bringing up the Sedona debate again, but I'm going to take the plunge very soon and chop in my Rover 75 and go for eithera Galaxy / Sedona. I've just looked at an 02 Sedona diesel this morning looks like a good deal but its an automatic. Iwas always bought up that towing was for manuals only and that auto's drained the tank of juice.

Can some one confirm or deabte further which way i should go ?

There have been lots of debates on here about manual or auto for towing. Both are suitable so it really comes down to your personal preference. I have towed with both petrol and diesel manuals and autos. I currently tow with a diesel auto and it is excellent. The autos do use a bit more fuel but they tend to be more relaxing to drive.

Sensible advice from Graeme, it is a matter of personal preference, both should do the job well.

Now, if all you auto drivers out there want to descend on this topic, saying that the slush box is the best thing they ever changed to, be prepared for a long drawn out battle.

Could be gear-sticks at twenty paces, me thinks......

Autos are easier to drive especially when manoevering caravans but they do use more fuel especially with smaller engines and some autos are less reliable than manuals especially those fitted to Galaxys, We had a Sharan tdi manual and my father in law has a Galaxy tdi auto, we averaged about 20% more mpg and the auto box on the Galaxy had to be replaced after 30k, (
