Awning skirt rail

We have just purchased a 1 year old bradcot classic awning

This came with a skirt for the van

We have a Abbey Aventura 320 2001

PROBLEM

The cord on the skirt is to big for the slot in the rail is there a reducer available or what is the alternative?

We also have porch awniong with short skirt and this fits our rail ok

Any one else had this problem?
 
Might it not just be the slot, through which the awning skirt cord is threaded, is a little tight. I had to open the slots on our Oklahoma with a pair of pliers before ours would slot in easily. Very easy to do as it's only aluminium.
