Bad Water taste

Have a Abbey Vouge bought new in Sept first time out on 2 week holiday water tasted awfull thought it may be the location but when recently in the lakes for 1a week same problem. I am sure I saw an aricle in one of the caravan mags late last year about swift group making some vans with incorrect pipework which wasn't food grade plastic, anyone saw it or had similar problems??

Not sure about Abbey, but you should be able to search this site for lots of info where the problem occured on some new Baileys.

I've just had my Bailey Senator pipes replaced under warranty because of the problem as have many others so it sounds as if you may need to speak to your Abbey dealer.

The problem it seems was caused by a reaction between the liner of the pipe and chemicals in the water.

I've been told that if you test with bottled water there is no reaction and no bad taste.

I just bought a new water hookup extension hose from TowSure but it has the same taste prob, drinkable from the tap but un palatable once it's been through the pipe. It will have to go back.

I imagine you've tested the water roll?

Yeh same roll as with previous caravan no problem there wherever we were

We have just had the water pipes renewed under warrenty on our Bailey Ranger. We were told that the rolls are stacked out doors prior to being used and that it is a chemical reaction of the sun on the plastic hose. Apparantly as the reel is brought indoors and the pipe used, the pipe nearer the centre of the reel is not affected. This was the reason I was given but it might just be an excuse to shut me up as I am no way chemically minded so could not argue.

No matter what it is it should be replaced at the manufacturer's costs and not by yourselves. It is definitely a warrenty issue.
