Bailey Senator shipping height.

I have a Bailey Senator Indianna 2007. I am trying to book a cross channel ferry and I am not sure of the shipping height of the van. The handbook says 2.58m but the brochure says 2.71m - a discrepancy of 13cm.

Can anyone confirm the correct height please. If I am in any doubt I will use the greater height, but I don't want to get penalised by the ferry companies if possible.

Thanks.

Graeme.

Hi Graeme,

Would it be too obvious to suggest you measure the height, from the ground to the highest point, probably the aerial.

Graeme,

Now theres a problem? my 2007 Indiana in both the last brochure & in the Bailey Specs its listed as 2.71 , but in the latest (March 07) specs its 2.58m!

If I were you, if they ask you the height (in over 15 years the only time I've been asked the height was on Red Funnel ferries going to the Isle of Wight!) go for 2.71 then you'll be safe.

Cross channel ferries and others main ferries to Ireland etc only normaly want to know if your caravan exceeds a certain height (around 1.85 metres) which all caravans do apart from folding ones.

You travel alongide trucks so your caravan height is not an issue but it will not fit on the car only decks.

The aerial will not be an issue.

The van is in storage many miles from my home so it is not easy to physically measure the height. I needed to pay for my holiday today so I needed the van height because when I booked the holiday I had an older van. The CC do need the height for the Hull Zebrugger crossing because some vans can fit under the raised car deck. The CC were very helpful and said the height was 2.58m without the status and 2.71m with the status.

Thanks for all your help.

Graeme.

Hi Graeme,

I have just dug out my manual for my 2004 Bailey and all 24 vans listed are 2.71m with as you say the roof arial and then it has them listed as 2.68m with it taken off.
