An option that I have considered for times when an extra bed space is required is to simply use a pop up tent inside the awning, being inside the awning it would not have to be pegged down, and is very quick to erect and put away.
A cheap pop-up like ones I have seen in Wilko and Tesco will give all the protection needed when erected inside an awning.
The Decathlon ones cost a bit more, but can be used outside an awning and with more confidence (weather wise), a few examples:
