Best method for Wi Fi for laptop o the continent

Hi We are looking to go to France next year for 6-8 weeks and want to access to internet.

Does anyone have experience of getting wi fi on the continent? Is it best getting a dongle with a UK provider of buy one in France

Prior to the laptop we visited the local Biblioteque (Library) in each town, village we stayed at.

To a fault everyone was most obliging and for very little we had access.

Now we have a laptop we visit cafes, McD's etc where we again get access for usually nothing.

In addition, many sites have WiFi access at a good deal cheaper deals than we seem to find at home.t
