Best Route to La Rochelle

Hello I am travelling to La Rochelle from Calais in July and would like to know your opinion on which is the best route to take.

From your previous experience, is it better to go auto route all the way via Paris / Orleans, or via Rouen and Le Mans.

The routes provided by Mappy /Michelin/ RAC etc all differ and make it confusing if you haven't been before.

Have done both. We went vai Paris for many years. Last year did Rouen, Le Mans. There was a length of ordinary road which by this year should have been replaced be motorway. Traffic - much quieter, route more direct, NO Paris hold ups.

Which way are we going this year. Rouen le Mans.
