Just came back from 5 days in N Wales. Monday it is quite windy. Monday night it is picking up. 11:30pm. I suggest to OH that we take the awning down. He says not but bangs a couple more pegs in it. The gale could be heard roaring up the hill and then, bang, hit the van causing it to rock. I wondered if it would tip the van. 2:30 a.m. I go out to check the awning. It is intact but there are only 2 pegs holding it down; the ones in the tie down kit. So I kick OH out of bed and in 10 minutes we've got the awning down and bundled into the back of the car.
Headline I local paper the next day. "97mph winds batter North Wales". :eek:hmy:
All things considered the awning did quite well.

I heard you were early risers :cheer:
Glad the awning came down In one piece and no damage or injuries.
The lesson here for everyone is always use your storm lashings and storm pegs. Our storm pegs are 18 " long seated triangular profile. Never failed but sometimes need digging out.
