hi jo-anne your right about sun lol it taken about 2-3 hours to fit bar and elecs yes i got everything from towsure all i can suggest is a bumper plate because you dont want to stracth that nice paintwork but you will need longer towball bolts if you going to fit brakaway cable holder thing on ball but know thats it ohh towsure would recomend plug and play elecs but you dont need them just normal ones would do.

merry christmas

Hi Jo-anne

Sorry, Haven't logged on for a few days - christmas you know.

Ours has the Volvo fitted detatchable towbar that I negotiated as part of the overall purchase. 13 pin socket. We cover up the blank towbar socket and electric connection for protection, and looks, with a clip on cover that Volvo sell - for them, somewhat inexpensively.

Over a year ago we were looking for a second hand XC90 because we couldn't afford to buy new. Then I saw a post on the Volvo owners club web site recommending using a reverse auction web site to buy new cars as there are amazing discounts to be had. It was a site called AutoeBid - http://www.autoebid.com/

They came up with an astounding predicted discounted price for the car spec we wanted. We would have used them to buy the car but then knowing via their web site the sort of prices that were feasible, when we then put pressure on the local Volvo dealer (who was clearly needing to hit an "end of September" sales target) to match those prices they folded and agreed the sale at a discount of just over

The Santa Fe has a huge boot,im surprised if the XC90's boot is bigger as the magazines say otherwise.

Hi Mike A

Thats a really good deal, but basically you have bought one of his stock cars as you never got your first choice colour.

They are all discounting the cars they have in stock,if you have to order one then its a different story.

Discounts are good today but this affects your secondhand value in years to come which are already taking a hit.

mikey you are wrong we did actually measure it and the xc 90 is a bigger boot.

and in my oppinion the only reason hyundai give a 5 year warrenty is because there cars are so unreliable having owned a santa fe my self within 6 months the cambelt snapped TWICE the button for 4wd didnt work the central locking failed but dont get me wrong they are a nice looking car but not worth the hassle.

i have never heard of a xc90 going wrong like this

so jo-anne its your choice but remember i have actually owned both of these and will never get rid of xc90 ever

good luck

Hyundais are not unreliable,it the 2008 power survey they were 1 % behind Volvo at 79%.

What does it matter if it goes wrong the important thing it is covered and you dont have to pay anything for 5 years no matter how much milage.

Audi have the same warranty as Volvo 3yrs OR 60,000 miles.I have an A4 Avant and covered 72,000 in 32 months. The exhaust manifold cracked and had to fork out

Sorry Gareth

Im not wrong I quoted from a motoring magazine

A group test

Volvo:Volvo has a 615-litre boot.Using all seven seats eats into the luggage space, with only 249 litres behind them. Drop them all, and the XC90's enormous dimensions pay dividends, with a van-like boot space of 1,837 litres

Santa Fe:The Hyundai has a vast load area in five-seat form. Its 969-litre boot dwarfs the competition. Fold the middle row, and there's an incredible 2,213 litres to play with.

mikey, gareth is correct. the volvos boot is 20cms longer and 1 cm narrower at the narrowist part only, the volvo does go wider. me and the guy at volve measured both the santa fe and the volvo with a tape measure. the book on the santa fe i think is wrong because if you look at the boot measurements of the tucson which is not much smaller it says the santa fe has about 400 litres more boot space which i know it doesnt. also since i got my santa fe the weights on the website have gone from 1898 to about 1989 approx thats 100kg approx more where do they get these figures.

ive been waiting for a seat base for 10 weeks now also theres a dry bush on the back end but they say its the squeeky seats but i know it isnt.

watch this space.

I can only go on what is quoted in the magazines,i dont know where they get their figures from as various motoring magazines quotes the same boot space.

If you get the D5 diesel auto this will go into the

gareth, not done nothing yet long story but got some faults with santa fe at the moment its going in the garage for them to have a look on wednesday. maybe a dif problem/wheel bearing?, waiting for a seat base for 10 weeks ( no sign of it yet ), also theres a burning smell coming from the back end there also like a dry bush noise that you hear when you go over speed bump, potholes that sort of thing. it went in last time for the dry bush noise they said it was the rear seats so they lubed them now they squeek. cant do nothing at the moment but watch this space you never know.

we go to coventry hyundai.

b4 we went to devon in july some of the lights went so the garage replaced the fuse and said usually theres a reason for this so keep your eye on it. when we went to devon it went again craig replaced the fuse but it went again. it went into hyundai torquay and 2 cut a long story short a towbar company in cov had drilled throught the body of the car when they didnt need to put the wiring loom though but didnt put a grommit the wires were that tight that they were chaffin away on the metal hole and splitting etc. the towbar elecs got that hot that the wiring had melted into the sound deadning of the car and it was a matter of time before the car would go up in flames. we had a lucky escape. the garage then fitted a hyundai wiring plug and play elecs. so now you can see why im panaking about the smell of burning.

Jo-anne

That's not the Santa Fe 's fault is it?

Has it been a good car or rubbish??

Sorry but you said the Kia Sedona was " rubbish"?????? LOL

Well , I have a mate of 30 years who has chucked his XC 90 because he said it's rubbish!!

Where next???

Well

I've had my Sorento 3.5 years and she's been totally faithfull.

Come on Jo , you can't just chuck a car out because of a few faults most of of which aren't the makers fault ie the tow bar wiring???

My F in Law has a very good tow bar electrician in the West Midlands who can probably help; and he's cheap!!

Cheers

Alan
