Calais to Quimper

Just some advice , we are travelling the above route over 2 days stopping en route at Chateaux le Columbier. Is the best route to take is to stay on the autoroute and go round and to the north and west of Rouen or cut the top bit off and go through Rouen , as the map look like a straight forward route but we know French roads of old from solo travels before.

Also can anybody recommend good fuel stops on way to Quimper following main dual carraiageways ( sorry do not have no;to hand ) Route is Liseaux , Caen , Rennes , Vannes etc

Thanks Pip

We have travelled that route many times and always stick to the northern motorway, by-passing Rouen completely. Last time I drove through Rouen I only met two traffic jams - one was 8 miles long and the other was 12!

We're travelling to Quimper from Caen and are planning to meet friends who are joining us on the way. There are services south of jnct 33 on the A84 near Pontaubaul. The services are roughly 80 miles from Caen and 170 from Quimper.
