We are looking for a camp site Nr Ouistreham. The site Les Hautes Coutures now wants you to stay 2 nights and we only want a stop over going home. We know about the site near to the port but we don't want that on. Help?

You could try Chateau Matragny approx 8 mins off the Caen Ring Road on N13. Caravan Club advertises this as a min of 3 nights stay in high season however we have been for a one night stay during the past 2 years in August - you will not get turned away!

Yes - there are no barriers. If we are leaving for the morning ferry we usually pitch towards the top end of the drive so as not to disturb. The pitches on the drive are quite a good size so if you are level you can hitch up the night before.

Hi Jenny,

We always use Camping Les Capucines at Ranville, which is only about 5 miles away from the ferry. It is a rather nice little two star site just over the canal, over the Pegasus Bridge. All pitches have water and drainage and they have a barrier system that allows you to leave for the early ferry. It is open all year round.

Cheers

For the last seven or eight years we have parked up at the ferry port along with several other vans, when catching yhe morning ferry. After the late boat leaves we run down past the booking booths. We are ok there for a bite to eat at night and a cuppa when waking.I know some folks don't like to do this but we've never felt at risk.
