Car 13 pin

I've just changed the twin sockets for a 13 pin on my CRV (06 reg)Rather than use the two existing cables, I connected them to a terminal block in the well of the boot, and then took the new cable from the block down to the socket. I've checked for relevant supply at the socket, and just need to pop over to the storage site to connect up to the van for a function check. Should be ok as it was a simple connection job.

I'm mulling over doing the switchover myself.

On my car, the 7N has two cables going into the socket (that's the way the factory plug in kit comes), and of course I have the cable going into the 7S. So it'd be three wires into the 13way socket.

I'm considering stripping all three back, and joining them into one using heat shrink a little way back from the socket. Or doing as you've done and putting a connector block in the boot.

I did this last year when we got our new van. We had 2 cables 1 on the near side (12n) and 1 om the offside both going down to the sockets.

I pulled the near side cable back up into the boot area and laid it across the boot under the tailgate cover, pulled the offside cable up into the void behind the rear lights (offside) joined the 2 cables in the void behind the rear lights to the new 13 core cable via a conection block and then 13 core went down through the floor and out to the new socket.

Be careful that you check the rating for all the wires as the new 13 core has more higher rate wire than the 2x7, the fridge is one wire whch has changed and I was told that it may overheat. I questioned this as the fridge in the new van is exaxtly the same as the old one apart from the electronic panel, and if I used the 13 pin to 2x7 pin conector it would be the same as what I did and they sell the conversion kit
