car - caravan weight ratio

I have a Kia Carens and it tows wonderfully.

On buying it I was told it was heavier than my Vectra which I was trading in. thus I didn't examine further its accrual weight.

I've now looked in the hand book and it gives GVWR as 1975 What is Gross Vehicle Weight Rating compared to kerbwwight?

Your help will be appreciated.

Gross Vehicle Weight is the maximum weight the vehicle is allowed to be, and includes "everything"; eg. driver, passengers, luggage, fuel etc.

Kerbweight is the weight of the empty vehicle, but generally includes three quarters of a tank of fuel and driver of around 70 Kgs.

ps: The GVW also includes the noseweight from the caravan when it's hitched up to the car.

Actually, kerbweight, as defined in EU standards, includes a 90% full fuel tank and 75kg for the driver and miscellaneous items.
