Car claim. (Just out of interest).

A couple of years ago I bought a new MG ZS. There was a software problem with the cruise control. I was told I was the only one to complain. Also that “it was supposed to be like that”.

Even MG eventually admitted it was wrong but that they had no plans to correct it.

Left to me I would have fought the issue. But I know that such things have detrimental affect on my wife. However, I did find another person on a forum who recognised the problem. I was aware he was fighting his dealership.

Today he wrote to me with the following.

“Sorry it has been so long but after eighteen months the Ombudsman finally came through and found in my favour 🥳
The MG dealership were told that they had to buy my car back at the price I paid, minus 0.20p per mile.

I now have a Toyota!’

All the best,
David

I would unless it had done a massive mileage, as I presume doing so would off set quite a bit of deprecation loss? You need gather that info on the costings of course.

Then if the wife loves it strongly, would I dare?

Which Ombdsman service was that one? Good outcome nevertheless. But like Buckman and his Yaris lane control Toyota aren’t accepting responsibility even though he’s found numerous posts on websites were other owners are complaining.

I will ask him for those details.

I sold my MG back to the dealership after about 18 months with only around 4000 miles. I could potentially get around £5000 back if I could get those rules applied to my case. But I am not prepared for the battle particularly as it was a couple of years ago.

It is weird how such things stresses my wife, even though she needs have no involvement. She says it stresses me out, which is not at all true.
