l all , just been to look at changing the Shogun, trying to persuade her in doors to go smaller.

Seen the reports on the forum about the new CRV.

Called at our local dealer yesterday saw the SE plus for £18999, looked promising but l want cruse control which only available in the ES, wait for it.

Called back today, first l got the young guy as usual to take particulars and make sure l was interested.

Then came the business manager, told him that l was interested in one or the other cars.

The ES £22401 less £2000 Scrap value £20401, arh l said to dear, will have the SE plus, £18999 less £2000 scrap value £16999 saving £3401 do without cruise control.

Sorry sir can't do the SE plus at £18999 will have to be £21000 less scrap value £2000 = £19000.

So lets get this right you want me to give you my Shogun + £1 on the Government Scrap deal and l get thee SE for £19000.

Sorry but why would l do that when l can give you £18999 keep me Shogun and be a quid better off.

Seems that Honda will enter into the government Scheme as long as you buy at the price they quote, looks like they will pocket the 2K plus quid of my hard earned money, and they said Dick Turpin is dead.

Looks like her indoors will have her wish another Shogun on our terms not Dick Turpins.

Anyone else had the same dealings.

It has its flaws as 1k of the scrapage scheme is funded by the dealer if he has already discounted the car he will reluctant to lose more money.

Not all cars are in the scheme its mainly stock piled and high volume cars.If you have to wait more than 4 months for the car then this is also excluded from the scheme.

nigel your better off with the shogun anyway mate. the crv are nice and look very nice but shoguns are better made.

The price for the CRV was a good one expect normally to pay around 20k with discount.

They do say negociate a deal then ask for the 2k scrapage offer in all the car mags but obviously this doesnt work all the time,seems like its only on the cars they want to get rid of.

One thing you cant say about Honda's though is they are not well built up there with the best of them.

Going to stick with the Shogun SWB, seen some great prices for 08 models at 3k less than the Honda tonker toy, not going to be ripped off by this government or the car industry.

Stick with your old Sogun mate! our experience of new cars is that they're over technical unreliable heaps of junk, the depreciation on a new car will pay for a huge amount of fuel and road tax and you'll be helping the environment by making your car last longer.

Just a thought, the Honda and the Shogun are both good cars in there own rights.

Haven't tried a Shogun but found Honda fine if you're under 6ft.
