Car suggestion

Hi there, i currently tow a 1998 abbey GTS Vogue 212 with a Ford focus 1.6 petrol.although this car does the job it needs to go. I am looking for the best 5 door diesel hatchback with a large boot for around £6000, hopefully something with good fuel economy and sporty looks up to 6 years old.Can anyone recommend a decent car.

Cheers Chris

hi chris

just an idea although it might not be popular......have a look at 4x4s with the way the prices are falling these days you could pick up a decent one with the kind of money that you have

if you do i would recomend a japanese make because they tend to be more reliable

Have to aggree with HGV Dave on this one but would add look at Korean makers too - don't get too hung up on fuel consumtion iether, there are other critical expenses such as repair costs and insurance cost to look at as well as value for money.

thanks for the feedback guys, when you suggest a 4x4 i assume you mean diesel? Surely such cars are no where near as economical though and do not get stung for tax with such big cars?

Get yourself behind the wheel of a 2.2dci sve xtrail 2004 to 2006, this version is more economical than the euro4 versions brought out later.

I've just passed my 2004 onto my son, it would have sold at a dealer for about

No not necessarily diesel - I tow with a 3.5 petrol theres not a lot in cost diff because derv is so pricy and service costs are dearer.

If you stick with pre April 2001 the tax is fixed at the over 1600 cc rate. Consider say a Shogun/Landrover commercial or a double cab pickup and road tax stays at

Cheers guys, been doing some research and found a 2005 Mondeo 2.0 tdci 115 Zetec within my budget. Any thoughts on whether this may fit the bill? I have the kerbweight of the car at 1500 and the van weight at 1120. Does this sound like a good match.

chris

Thats an excellent weight ratio. The mondeo is a popular tow car on this forum.

The 130 would provide a little more power?
