We have just been informed that during the night two cars were stolen of the same driveway from a home around the corner from us. I know that the one vehicle was brand new Ford Ranger only purchased a few weeks ago. Not sure of the make of the other car, but I was also a late model car. No idea if both cars were keyless or not.

Last month a car was stolen off the driveway in a village 4 miles from us. Same happened in that village two months previously, but on that occasion they broke into the home while the occupants were asleep to steal the car keys. Neither our village or the other village have street lights.

Last night one of dogs kept barking, but we could not see why he was barking so close dup the kitchen door so that he could not get out. We did not want him barking due to our very grumpy neighbour next door that complains at every opportunity. The Lexus has a tracker, a CAN Bus blocker, alarm and immobilise Although keyless the Lexus keys ar ein a pouch so no signal is transmitter., The Yaris only has the normal alarm and immobiliser. It does not have keyless entry.

Seriously thinking of a visible deterrent like a steering wheel lock like the Stop Lock Pro or the Milenco High Security Lock. Not cheap, but cheaper than paying an excess to make a claim!

Wireless camera with SIM card records all events and stores for a month, on a loop. Contacts you by notification on phone wherever you are. Got a Tapo one on our drive which covers cars and caravan. Even when away notifies us of motion at front of house and drive and see postman deliver. I take phone to bed with me every night and alerts me to any movement. I can then set alarm off on the camera to deter anyone or speak to them.

The only one of our cars with an active remote key is the Santa Fe, I store the keys in 'DEFENDER'pouch in the kitchen, not sure how effective they are but car wa still ther this mroning

I have put the special, and expensive CR2032 batteries that go to sleep in our key fobs, so if a key is not moving after 3 minutes it goes to sleep and so then there are no signals for the thieves to clone.
Seems to me to significantly reduce times we can be targeted by that particular technique, particularly as now I put the "in use" key down rather than leave it in my pocket. Other lives in a metal safe, secure in three ways, Faraday cage , asleep, and physically secure.

Ford Ranger, not really surprised a nice new one has an unwelcomed appeal.

I have a new Ford Ranger, great tow vehicle (V6 Diesel) but with the keyless ignition etc you do have to be careful where the keys are kept.
I did read somewhere that they are one of the most pinched vehicles currently?
If some undesirable with the right tech wants your car then unfortunately it will be taken.

We have a outside camera that wireless and I can check on my phone that keeps and eye on our bungalow , garage and drive but my Ford Kuga got Alarm and my wife car Volkswagen up got immobiliser and stop lock pro because when we are away hers is left outside on it parking space.

Thanks, but we would like to prevent the theft and not watch them on video driving the vehicle away. Even if we got the phone alert, we would very foolish to challenge them. By the time the police got to the property the thieves would be long gone.

Could be a good idea for the Yaris as Lexus already has similar fitted. Need to check prices. As we are away on holiday for a week, we will either put the Yaris into a locked garage out of sight or leave at daughters residence. Unfortunately garage doors are very easy to access.

I believe you because I tested mind out and I had some neighbours complaining so it down a little bit but mine has a motion detection.

Unfortunately the camera would over look a public walk way as we do not have a drive. A bit wary of infringing any Data Protection Acts.. However an outdoor light that coming on may act as a deterrent. The car is about 5m from the home and parked on the street.

Yes ours has motion detection and only need it on a low setting to detect any movement. Picks Cats up entering drive and the occasional fox

Once that is activated it matters not whether or not the scum come along with some form of electronics they still cannot access the key or the vehicle. The only way to unlock it is with the key by fob button press and usually within a metre or so of the vehicle.

Foxes, badgers, hedgehogs and of course rats from the orchard across the road visit at night. Only two nights ago we saw a huge hedgehog in our back garden. Set off the dogs with his snuffling around. Strangely once the dogs had sniffed the hedgehog no longer interested.

It is not addressed at all in the Disco's user manual, along with much more of the in detail tweaks the dealers seem to know about.
I have not explored if it is buried in the setup submenus not mentioned in the supplied manual .
