John, as most of the makers and dealers use Autoglym, or Mer, yes it is ok.

Just do not use any which have a cutting agent in them as the paint is very thin, or if a GRP panel, you do not want to start abrading the gel coat

Hi i dont want to contradict anyody but i always thought MER had a cutting compound in it.
