Can anyone suggest where to get separate caravan breakdown cover to the usual car cover. I have Skoda Assistance (RAC) but it does not cover the caravan. RAC have told me they will fix your car but not the caravan.

Both Clubs offer the service either Mayday with CC or RAC with C&CC. Various options are available

I can report that the CC Ins. cover with Green Flag (Mayday) is very good as have, unfortunately, had to use them when a wheel came off caravan, south of Glasgow, when returning from a holiday in Scotland. They took the caravan on a breakdown truck back to the caravan dealer we asked for in Staffordshire. No Problems and well worth taking out for the peace of mind it gives

Happy Caravanning

Have you tried NFU?

1stly we had our Freelander insured with them.

2ndly we added on U.K. breakdown which also included our caravan

3rdly we added on 19 days of breakdown for Europe

4thly we put our 17 year old daughter on the freelander insurance

5thly our daughter had her own car and now as her own insurance, passed in 3mths so she will get her no claims bonus for the next 6months insurance, she then passed her pass plus the day after her test which gave her another 30% discount and she also signed a declaration on the times she uses her car which gave another

Thanks for all the advice. I have tried several companies. They all want to sell you breakdown cover for the car as well. I have that through Skoda for 3years. I don't want to pay another company for breakdown cover on the car when all I need is cover for the caravan

I am sure that this is something many people will have experienced when they have bought a new car with breakdown cover. It seems I am getting free breakdown cover with the Skoda but whats the point when you have to pay for cover for the caravan and additional car cover.

Morganic......

This topic often comes up ........and the consensus is that you have to bite the bullet and take out full cover, resulting in the towcar being covered twice.

I have not heard of a way round this

Morganic the reason that you cannot just buy cover for the caravan is that without your car it is not legal to have it on the road.

If you broke down on the M6 and the Skoda chap arrived in 15 minutes to take your car away you just cannot leave the caravan sitting there until the breakdown chap for it arrives.

You must remember that the towed trailer becomes part of the vehicle for legal purposes when driving.

Yes I understand what you say but what happens if a wheel bearing goes on the caravan? I am not covered and need to find cover for this sort of emergency and to do it it seems that you have to take out breakdown cover for the car as well. I have already got that. If something happens to the caravan then under the Skoda breakdown scheme Im stuck
