Caravan Cleaning

I am having difficulty in cleaning the white pastic areas of my caravan no matter how hard I try it still looks dirty and tarnished, can anyone offer some advice on this.

Hi Peter,

If you are referring to the battery locker doors etc. I found that once they started to get tarnished Cif seemed to work quite well using a green soft scouring pad. They did seem to get dirty quickly again though.

Try a quality cleaner like MER for both washing when diluted in water and neat for polishing. Personally I would avoid household cleaners or using anything that has an abrasive surface.

Peter,

On the white plastic parts of the caravan, if they get really dirty when out in winter, i have always used neat Fenwicks Caravan Cleaner and washed off with plenty of water.

When the mastic starts to get blackened in areas, how do you clean mastic short of replacing it which is not an option.

Hay Guys please dont think Im taking the mick here as I have just used two cleaners here that seem to work well,

One is a shampoo from Asda at 75 pence a litre bottle , and of course this new Caravan cleaner from Aldi works very well

cleaned the mastic etc and black strteaks ,also used it on our conservatory to cleanblack streaks on upvc

If you go to Aldi to get that one get the concentrate .

Forgot to add the shampoo form Asda is a car shampoo

Good Luck. Sir Roger

Just tried the Asda shampoo this week. For me, it wasn't anywhere near as good as Fenwicks or TripleWax car shampoo. It left both the car and caravan very streaky and I had to wash them down again with Triplewax.

Hi Peter

Having just purchased a Rapido pop top which hasn't been cleaned since Queen Victoria was in reign, I can strongly recommend Everbuilds PVCu Solvent Cleaner. It is 'very' strong and should only be used on plastic surfaces.

It cuts through the oldest blackest grime you can imagine. Cost
