Caravan only breakdown cover

My new car has manufacturers breakdown cover so I do not need the 'Mayday' cover for car & caravan. Does anyone know of a policy for breakdon of caravan only?

What about a car breakdown while you're on a caravan holiday?

If you seperate the cover, the car will get recovered but the caravan will be stranded as it's policy won't cover it.

Best to have Mayday, even if it appears to be double cover, you won't get the double journey cover elsewhere.

Car manufacturers breakdown cover isn't as good as personal cover from the same provider - because it's contracted at a heavily discounted rate.

Yes it is posible to have breakdown cover for the van only.

My van is insured through Towergate Baker & they supply van only breakdown cover as part of the policy, this breakdown cover is throuh the RAC.

As stroke of luck my company car (which I tow the van with) is also covered by the RAC!

You wil probably find that the existing breakdown cover for your car will automatically cover any trailer attached (up to a max length)providing the trailer/caravan is a proprietary make.

BUT remember you have to insure your caravan through them to get this benefit, or you could contact the RAC direct & see if they will cover your van individually, or you could contact the car's breakdown cover provider & ask if they would cover the van as well if you pay the additional premium.

Have you tried the AA? They currently do a caravan breakdown service in with the car break down service.Its

Hope it serves you well Richard - and me! I have never had to use their service but it seems a reasonable deal. Even better if you use Mondial for your car...
