Firstly, thanks again for all the tremendous support we have received this week it has been quite overwhelming.

It has been an interesting week for us, and it is now clear from the post by the Caravan Talk team that their decision has been made, and we are no longer able to post on Caravan Talk under the "Swift Group" username. We had hoped we might still be able too but clearly the admin team have reached their decision.

Our intention has always been simply to support our customers with information regarding our products. We have never promoted or advertised our products. We felt that joining as a Trade+ member (allowing us to advertise our products for a few hundred pounds) or leasing our Swift forum within Caravan Talk (for between

Thanks for clarifying the situation guys.

I join you in wishing Caravan Talk forum all the best, they have made their decision and nothing posted here will alter that.

We on Practical Caravan forum are grateful and proud that Swift continue to support our members with the unstinting help and advice from Andy, Ash, Mick and Dave

It's their loss and obviously they are putting profit before their members. I think it's a bit of a cheek to say they can monitor and give advice as individuals but not using the Swift name. A bit of a joke really. Cutting your nose off to spite your face comes to mind.

JonF has banned me from CT2 forum for saying "Quote" I think it's very sad Swift has been removed from this forum. Will the last person to leave please turn the lights out.

I think JonF took offence to this and removed the post then sent me a warning PM email

I take offence to that and stick two fingers up to JonF, and his forum.

Welcome to PC forum Swift, long may you be here.

I used to post on 3 forums including this site, however it is now to 1 (here only) , the reason being the censorship and silencing which has gone on at the other forums, I dared to ask on CT how you went about cancelling your membership and the thread was removed. So I uped and sent an email canceling my membership.

Yesterday I posted on T&T asking what other members thought of the situation , didnt put links on so tried to let members give their own views. Went back on this morning and the thread is gone, not locked but completely removed , not even a PM to explain.

I agree that the web needs to have moderators but the level of censorship on other forums regarding this issue seems to excesively heavy handed.

Del,

I agree, there was a thread running on CT2 about censorship on that forum. Obviously someone there didn't like it because it disappeared.

The Caravan4U forum has not been doing any censorship, there is a long thread "Swift Group partification" that is still up and running.

They probably realise as others discover the site and join they won't be aware of the shenanigans that CT have been playing over the last few days. These new people will then replace those who have left because of a matter of principle. I don't own a Swift nor am I a member of CT but I can assure you I would have done the same as Graham, Del, Plotts and probably many others.

Thank you to Andy, Ash, Mick & Dave for all their contributions to CT2. Although I am not a Swift owner I have much been very impressed by them and the way they have reacted to this episode. I am so sad that things have ended in this way and they will no longer be part of Caravan Talk.

Hello all on PC, first post time!

CT2...pretty much goodbye...who else is open? Must be frequented by Swift / Bailey and a couple of the others Sargent, Tourershine and the other freelance techs like Gary?

From a non Swift owner, many thanks for all the words of wisdom you and previously Kath have given .

A forum survives because someone somewhere has a technical problem. Usually that's why they join the forum in the first place. Well done and keep up all the good work.

Cheers

'.....who else is open? Must be frequented by Swift / Bailey and a couple of the others Sargent, Tourershine and the other freelance techs like Gary?'

Swift and Bailey post on here as does Gary. Sargent is welcome to use this forum if they haven't already done so but Tourershine said that he prefers to stay with CT2. Any companies or freelancers are most welcome here (we don't charge :0)) but we have to insist that no advertising takes place on the forum otherwise the bean counters at Haymarket Towers get very cross.

There's no rule that says that a person can only use one forum, CT2 is still informative in other ways so why not *** back when it suits you?

Swift have now started to use Caravanning 4 U which has come a long way since it was started by Eric who sadly passed away.

He'd have loved what his forum has become.

I got banned from CT for writing a satire on obnoxious caravanners in a reply to a post and got banned. The person and many others who read it found it hilarious and not at all offensive.......

........ It used to be a good forum and there was a lot of help on it.

MODERATORS EDIT:

I've edited a large part of this post because it described admin from another forum in insulting terms contrary to Rule 3 of forum etiquette.

Ian outlined the fact that it is possible to log in to forums using false details and a different IP address.

Hi Ian

The CT admin and moderators are probably only too aware that banned members use different log in details to log on and gain access to their forum.

This happens on every forum where members are banned for a variety of reasons.

On this forum we try to use suspensions rather than outright bans where possible when a member continues to break the rules after being warned previously.

We do however ban those who continue to break the rules after suspensions and who cause harm to this forum or it's members.

We occasionally have banned members who continue to post under false log in details and these are blocked when they are proven to be false.

Bans from CT (or any other forum) are the business of the administrators of the forums concerned and complaints on this forum cannot be answered by admin of these forums so any complaints should be emailed to them rather than posted here.

Parksy, thanks for this.I agree that no-one need be tied to one forum. In my case, time is quite precious and I prefer to spend that time principally using, and contributing to,a site that matches my needs and interests.

A site without Swift's valuable, and voluntary, contributions no longer matches those needs,so,it's this forum for me now (though I will still make the occasional foray into CT).

I know it's well trodden ground but the Swift team should have been congratulated rather than penalised for their involvement with CT.
